    The Colosseum Empty The Colosseum

Post by DoWhileGeek Tue Aug 31, 2010 11:38 pm

    *//OOC--------------------------------------------------------------------/

    Description:
This is the inaugeral beta test of player vs player combat on myrp forums. The two competitors have recieved pre-made characters with equipment and abilities.

    How to win:
    Kill the other competitor.

    Rules of combat:
    1. You may not leave/escape the Colosseum floor.
    2. You may not god emote on the other character without a successful die roll on him/her.
    3. Decisions made by the Gm are final and must be respected.

    Characters:

    Played by Malara:
    Human Egyptian Warrior
    Phoenix
    Female

    Equipment:
    Cloth armor
    Khopesh - Melee
    Longbow - Ranged
    10 arrows

    Character notes:
You are a woman, your muscle mass will not compare to a spartans beefy-ness, playing hit and run tactics as well as being the artful dodger would work well for you.

    Played by Alice:
    Human Spartan warrior
    Xavier
    Male

    Equipment:
Cape armor (lol, spartans wore little to nothing besides a cape, 300 added undies. Cape armor is the same as cloth)
    Longsword - melee
    Spear - ranged
    Shield

    Character notes:
your only armor is your shield, use it a lot. The Colosseum is big, if you throw your spear from one end it wont reach the other. but if your close enough and you hit the target there is little chance it will live.

    Played by Kedefrodai:
    Human Spanish Conquistador
    Armando Cortez
    Male

    Equipment:
    Plate armor
    Rapier - melee
    black-powder rifle - ranged
    10 lead shots

    Character notes:
Black-powder rifles take about 40 seconds to reload. Also your metal armor is not weightless on you, act like it.

    Posting order:
The posting order is final and no one is eligible for a skip until their character is dead!

    1. Kedefrodai
    2. Alice
    3. Malara

    How attacks work:

When you make a post and describe yourself making an attack to another character I will make a dice roll. How high the roll is will determine if you hit or miss the target. If you hit you will do default damage to the character determined by your weapon.

    How movement works:

This is one of the major parts that we will be testing in this rp. No character will be able to cross the Colosseum from one end to another in one turn, we will experiment as we play. For testing purposes lets consider that depending how much armor you have on will define how far you can move.

    Heavy armor: 1/4 Colosseum length.

    Huge Shield: 1/3 Colosseum length.

    light/cloth armor: 1/2 Colosseum length.

    ##Date: sep, 01 2010
    ---

    Notes:
all your actions and movement will be done in character. I expect everyone to respect the movement estimates for testing purposes

The Colosseum Empty Re: The Colosseum

Post by DoWhileGeek Thu Sep 02, 2010 5:13 pm

The masses enter the Colosseum through the lower entrances in droves. Several people have even died from being pushed off the top onto the street below because its been so full. It is clear that championship invitational is afoot. A week long tournament with combatants from round the globe. Caesar sent out invites himself to the major powers of the world. One to the Danes, The Germanics, the english, the spanish, even to the far east and... dark continents. All of which sent their best! A lone young'n hailing from Sparta has even dared to come.

The championship has been fierce so far, and only two days in. In an effort to narrow down the sheer amount of heroes, a three man free for all match has been scheduled for this afternoon....

Armand Cortez received a notice from the King of Spain, he wanted the conquistador to go to Rome to fight in the coliseum. It was about time! The conquistador had long been waiting for a chance to end lives again. After having been in Central Mexico killing hundreds of Mexica, AKA the people of Tenochtitlan...the Aztec capital. He was trying to live a peaceful life with his wife, but now he was itching for a challenge.

He took his horse to Rome, riding around the great mountains that were in his way. It took him a little longer than usual because he made a pit-stop to get his equipment from a friend and fellow warrior. When he reached the city, he remembered how majestic the city looked, even though he knew better, the emperor was the one with all the money, and everyone besides the highest class of Rome were dirt poor. He might not have liked the Romans much, but he respected some of their generals, like Julius Caesar.

He walked to the coliseum and found that someone was waiting for him, he figured that...especially when someone called him by name. The only reason someone would know his name, is because this was the person he was supposed to talk to about entering the challenge...

A Spartan warrior is longing for a great challenge. He is of average height, he has almost-black short hair, a clean face, fair skin, and is in his mid 20's. Homer's parents were murdered when he was a young boy. Fighting is his passion, as he has been training for it his whole life, and he's made a living out of it for the past few years.
Homer received an invitation to the great competition he had been longing for, for so long. The Colosseum challenge is just what he was looking for. He was honored and gladly accepted the invitation. He packed up his weaponry and armor, which consisted of cape armor, a shield, and a long sword. His secondary weapon is a spear his father passed down to him when he was a teenager. His spear carried great value to him.
The Spartan warrior made his 2 day journey with his horse across the long, hot desert by the cold river that flowed through it, and when he finally made it to Rome he quickly approached the Colosseum. There, he met a man named Leo who was wearing a maroon toga with a golden belt that had tassels on it. "Are you the man I see about entering the Great Colosseum challenge?" Homer asked the strange man.
He kindly nodded and said, "Follow me."

And so Homer's journey to fight continues....

    The Colosseum Empty The Phoenix

The predator hunches it's shoulders down, bending over the small watering hole. It glances around, making sure that no other animal is too close to it, before taking a few laps from the water. It's been here a thousand times before. It knows the land. It knows it's safe... or so it thought.
The cheetah doesn't hear the soft pull of a bowstring being stretched, even with it's incredibly hearing. The cheetah doesn't realize that this will be it's last visit to this watering hole.

    Hssst!

The arrow doesn't make a sound as it pierces the cheetah's eye and goes straight into it's skull, killing the beast instantly. As it falls silently to the ground, the other animals see the arrow, and flee, fearing their lives. They don't realize that there is nothing to fear, as the huntress has taken her prey.
A thin, yet lean white woman drops down gracefully from her hiding place in the tree a few meters away. She skulks over lazily, unafraid of anything nearby; yet, a close observation of her body language will tell you that she is still at full attention, ready to fight or run at any moment.
She reaches the body quickly, removes the arrow, places it back in her quiver, and then slings the body of the cheetah over her shoulder before the blood leaking from it's eye can seep into the water. If the hole is contaminated, the animals won't return. No animals, means no prey. No prey, means her reputation is shot.

When she returns to Alexandria, a slave is waiting at the doors of her home. He bows deeply to her, but she ignores him, walking inside. He stands, and follows her in silently. He knows his mistress well. He knows she will address him when she is ready, and not a moment sooner, so he will be patient. He follows her to where her clients are waiting to see the fresh pelt, but stops at the door. As a slave, he is not to enter the room but wait outside until he is called forth. He listens as his mistress reels and deals with the merchants. They want to take her fresh kill, sell out the meat and then sell the pelt itself as a royal-like robe. Maybe to the Pharaoh himself. She, though, knows how badly they want the absolutely flawless cheetah, and knows how much they're willing to pay.
It's not long before the richest merchant finally gives up on trying to knock down her price, and pays her exactly what she wants. Everyone, including the man who finally payed, leaves the room grumbling and murmuring. The one's who didn't pay out of jealousy of the man who did, and the man who did pay out of anger that he had to pay so much. But, he knew he would turn this cheetah into a profit very quickly, so didn't have too much to talk about.
The slave doesn't have to wait much longer. As soon as she's finished with her business in the room, she calls him forth. He strides in, silent as always. She's bent over a table, looking at a large map on a scroll, examining something very carefully. What, he doesn't care. He does notice that she holds a towel in her hands, and is wiping the blood from the cheetah off her hands. A small quiver of fear crawls up his spine as the thought crosses his mind that that could be his blood if he dared ever disobey her or question her orders. He stands at the edge of the table, waiting to be addressed.
"Yes, Anum?" He holds out the scroll he has been carrying with him night and day for the last two days to her.
"This arrived for you the day before last, great mistress." She takes it from him, and he waits while she reads it. The only sign she gives of what it says is her left eyebrow slowly raises the more she reads, and that twinkle she always gets in her eye before she goes hunting suddenly appears. He continues to wait as she burns the parchment, pulls out a new one, and begins to swiftly write. She puts her stamp - a bear claw with an arrow through it - on it to seal it shut, and then hands it back to him.
"Amun, can I trust you to go to Rome to deliver this to the Emperor?"
"Your will is my command, mistress." She eye's him suspiciously. He hasn't worked for her very long, she purchased him a little under six months, and she doesn't warm up to her slaves easily.
"You know the punishment for opened parchments?" He tries not to gulp, as he knows any sign of fear in her presence could quickly result in his termination. Whether his life or his time spent here be terminated depended on her mood that day.
"Yes, mistress." He knows it very, very well, just like any good slave. The punishment for a messenger to arrive with a parchment that has been already opened is death. "I will guard this message with my very life."

    Two weeks later...

Amun walks in to his mistress's home quickly and silently, bearing a message with a Roman symbol encrusted on it. She is haggling with a few clients over another pelt, of what variety he cannot tell. He tells one of the guards standing at the doors to inform her of his presence. The guard slides in quietly, and taps the mistress' shoulder. She's been known to run servant's through for interrupting her during a meeting, but she makes an exception this time and spares the guard's life. He tells her that Amun has returned, and she pulls him into a side room to speak with him in private.
By the time he enters the room, she's already inside awaiting him. Sensing danger, he quickens his pace to get her the message. This time, as she reads it, a broad grin comes across her features. Amun tries not to marvel at the phenomenon. Again, she burns the parchment, but this time she also gives him a promotion for his dutiful service to her. Then, her mask of calm comes over her face as she goes back into the main room to haggle further with her clients.
"Ah, there you are, Miss Phoenix!" He hears one of the fatter one's say as the doors shut behind her.

    Two more weeks later...

The woman, now known as Phoenix, half walks half glides off of her ship, stepping foot onto the Roman pier. A handsome, young man dressed in Roman armor with an escort of six men greets her.
"Greetings, mighty warrior!" He calls to her, and she comes a little closer. "I am Lucius Marius. I am to be your escort during your stay in Rome, so please, call me Lucius." She grants him a small smile.
"A pleasure, Lucius. I am Phoenix." Her eyes examine him closely, like a hunter it's prey. Her smile widens a little after a moment. "And you may call me Phoenix." He gives her a broad grin.
"Would you walk with me?" He bowed, and indicated for them to walk back towards the land. She also bowed, graciously.
"Of course. To where are we headed?" His grin had faded when he had bowed, but it was back when she kept the conversation going.
"To where you'll be staying during you time here."

Rome was undoubtedly beautiful, though the mere architecture was not the main attraction to this conquistador. The Coliseum was the place of war inside of Rome, the city did not usually see war within the borders of this glorious city. He walked closer and closer to the Coliseum, hoping that someone would show him where to go so he wouldn't have to go looking himself. They wouldn't be THAT inconsiderate, at least they should be decent enough to give him direction, he didn't wish to walk around, wasting time and energy, and then find himself inside the lions den.

The Conquistador was very pleased to see that someone was outside waiting for him, the man knew he wasn't Roman and could see the obvious apparel and weaponry. The man came closer "are you the Conquistador? A Spanish conqueror?" the older man asked. "I am he" the Spanish man replied, a look of curiosity crossed the man's face. "What wars were you in? You appear to be a great warrior, a great warrior indeed" he said looking at the different visible scars that formed from countless battles. "I was part of the Spanish Inquisition, I have killed many men, so yes you could say that I am a great warrior, now where am I supposed to go?" The older man nodded and then motioned the Conquistador to follow. They walked down a long corridor, then around a few corners and eventually the pair was in a room with other warriors waiting. "This is the room where you will await your impending battle, and ultimately you will either live or die, so prepare yourselves".

The Spanish Conquistador was already ready to fight, but patience was something he learned over time, so he sat down on a nearby bench and awaited his turn...

Homer followed the man into a room. The man said "This is where you will stay until it is time to fight so prepare yourself." He looked around to take in his surroundings and get to know this temporary place. He remembered a friend had told him 'The time is now Homer go out there and prove yourself' before he left. Homer waited for any further instructions in the holding area. He prepared himself and was thinking of some strategies to fight with.
