Damek filed through the trees, trying to avoid the bulk of the pack, that was settled for the night in a large clearing. Quite a few were just feigning sleep, he knew, from their breathing, and would love to know why he was out and about. He was looking for a select few individuals that he knew. They would be on the outskirts of the mass, for they were hopefully like him, and would accept the offer he was to make. There weren't many that he trusted, and in this pack, any trust at all was hard-given. It wouldn't take too long, and hopefully they could get out of the area before anyone noticed. Assuming anyone came with him, anyway, but he wasn't going to stop. He caught sight of one of them right as he emerged from the thickets into another, smaller clearing.

    - - -

It was approaching the time, and Damek knew that he had very little of it left before someone noticed his profound absence, and if any of the others were coming, noticed theirs too. He waited another minute, before a tiny rustling of leaves caught his attention, and the others emerged, almost as a group, into the small orchard. A good many had come, but not all of them. He hadn't expected this many, however, and barely got to see who exactly they were before the scent of one of Damien's dogs drifted past his nose. He indicated to get out with a flick of his tail and a silent leap into the bush furthest from the pack's bunk for this night. He didn't wait to see how many followed, as their muffled footsteps were loud in his ears, coming from behind. His only destination was somewhere far, far away where they could stop and live without fear.

Kala pretended to be resting when she heard the gray wolf start telling the others of his plan. She cracked her eyes and peered at him pondering what to do. She looked at Salvia sleeping beside her and decided. Salvia would follow her, this would put Kala's mind at ease for she would no longer have to worry about Damien harming Salvia. Kala saw some other wolves getting up as silently as they could. She stood up and nudged Salvia. She glanced back toward Damien's usual sleeping spot, staring for a moment then very quietly she turned and started heading to the spot the gray wolf had mentioned. She knew Salvia would be following without question. As she got safely away from the pack she began to sprint, hearing other footsteps fall in behind her. She smiled, this was it, she was finally going to be safe from Damien's rage and she would no longer need to worry about him or her siblings discovering who she was.
As she made it to the meeting spot she smelt her brother's scent on the wind, as well as the fear from the pack they were leaving behind. When she and the others appeared in the clearing she was glad to see the gray wolf not hesitate on getting them out of there. She stepped in behind him without any questions asked.

Odoziril hears the rustling leaves, signaling his time to forget this pack. It had been so long since he wanted to leave, Damien always insisted on creating work. Always taking territory for no reason. The pack had plenty of food and room for hunting yet Damien always hungered for more. No matter, things would be different now.

After Odoziril made it to the edge of the clearing without disturbing the others rest. He could hear some of their breath becoming restless and uneven, but none awoke, yet. The distinct sound of some others' steps could be heard. Many more than expected actualy...

Odoziril sprints at full speed to catch up, using his control of air to muffle the noise. He knew it would not be long untill the others noticed, but that would not be till we were far out of sight.

Kala woke me late in the night. I wasn't for sure what the reason was. She probably wanted to teach me a few hunting tricks. Hunting really wasn't my strength. Of course everyone said I was only good for looking at... what ever that meant. As I followed Kala we met up with several other wolves. This was the first time I would be going with a whole hunting party. I was at the back of the group. Kala was up near the front with the one who seemed to be leading us to where ever we were going. As we were running I caught a glims of a black wolf following bit behind us. At first I thought it was the pack leader Damien but after a second look I realized it wasn't. I wanted to ask everyone to slow down to let him catch up but I kept it to myself since when ever I made suggestions I was told off for it.

P.S. Yes I do post in 1st person not 3rd person, unlike everyone else I have seen post and I won't change to 3rd person so don't ask me to. This is just for people who might comment... or complain. Not pointing any fingers ...*cough* dustin.

I over heard a younger wolf talking to some of the others about leaving. Damien would not allow leavers. After the inccident of the 'treachery' I displayed, reporting these leavers would have been the best thing to get me back in line. That thought though only stayed in my head for a moment since I knew I would be blamed for something else shortly after I might not have the luck of getting to apologize for it. When the time came I headed toward the told meeting place and saw a group move off into the night. I followed them. I couldn't catch up to the group due to my age but I was at least able to stay the same pace. I reconized the wolf in the back of the pack as a female beauty that followed the white wolf Kala everywhere. If she was there Kala would surely be with this group.

Damek ran for quite a while, so long that light's first rays crept into the sky, and then the sun itself made an appearance on the horizon. The entire time he could still hear the wolves following behind him- following him- but if anyone had lagged behind, the group wouldn't be able to go back. Damek really had no idea where he was going. He could vaguely remember an old area that Damien liked, but left because it wasn't large enough for him, so Damek was trying to remember where it was. He hoped he was going in the right direction, at least. Damek supposed that no better what direction they went really, was better than the one they had left.

Damek ran past fields and hills, ponds and lakes, plains and forests. By the time he stopped from exhaustion, the sun was on its descent over the other horizon. Damek felt pretty sure that Damien would either have a hard time following them, or just give up because it wasn't worth his time. A small clearing between some pine trees was where he stopped, and a small creek nearby provided a serene gurgling. It would be perfect, but Damek didn't know if there was any food around. He was too tired to try and pick up any scents.

He turned around and looked to where he had come from. A few others were already stopped near him, and more were still running just a little ways off. He could recognize a few, but knew very little by name. The most surprising one, as well as suspicious, was one of Damien's old dogs, way in the back, before he committed some kind of treason and was punished. Damek would keep an eye on him, but he couldn't really confront him without knowing what exactly happened. Another point of note, was the female pair, Kala and Salvia. They were inseparable, and Damek only knew them because some rumors had been around for a while about Kala, but he couldn't remember exactly what they were anymore. Something to do with Damien. He had a good group, actually. At least he wasn't alone, like he thought he would have been. He found a nice spot on the ground and tried to sleep. He hoped the others could take care of themselves, now that there wasn't a large pack to care for them.

Almost as soon as they reached the clearing Kala went straight for the creek, lapping up the water quickly. Once satisfied she sat down and looked at Salvia, she had a familiar clueless look on her face. Kala smiled, "Salvia, I have decided that the pressure from Damien and the constant fighting proved to much. It was only a time before you, the most beautiful wolf in the pack, would soon be chosen, or forced to mate. I couldn't bare that. This was the perfect opportunity." She laid down whilst still watching Salvia, "This was the best opportunity we had to get away. We will accept..." She paused for a moment, then stood. She looked at the gray wolf, she recognized him, but she didn't know his name. "We will accept this wolf as our leader and start a new life. You can mate with respectable wolves and have pups as beautiful as you." Her eyes filled with playfulness. She threw her forearm over Salvia's neck and tried to pin her to the ground.

We finally stopped. I was starting to get bored. Kala explained to me that we left the pack to make a better one and that I could find a good mate, which didn't make alot of sence... there was the leader, a grey wolf who i didn't know and the older wolf who was still trying to catch up to us. BUt that really didn't concern me at the moment. after that boring run I wanted something to do. Kala knew I did too and jumped on me trying to pin me. I rolled down on my back and tried to kick her off me but couldn't get my feet under. I then tried to grab her around her kneck and pull her off but she pulled away and i missed.

I finally caught up to the group and got a drink by the creek. The white wolf and the beautiful one were playing around, which I can't understand how they could after that long run. I walked over by a tree, several feet away from everyone and laid down to sleep. In total there were five of us. It was small but possible. I didn't know how long I would be with this group. In the end it would likely be two pairs of mates raising pups and we me on the sideline. I had been in a small pack like this. The one with no pups or mate to look after usually has to do all the dirty work. Which it comes that I have to, i'll probably leave.

The hope the run here was worth it. Sure Damien always forced me into pointless fights, but atleast it was safe. Oh well, too late for thoughts like that now. As long as he doesnt try to follow us I don't really care. But if he does show up...I only hope I get a chance at him. He doesn't deserve to live after what he did...

I went to the creek to get some water, then went to sleep under a nearby tree. I hope the others can hunt, I can bareley sustain myself; let alone others. Including me, our total is only 5. If another pack trys to claim this terriitory, theres nothing we could do to stop them. Hopefully, Damien's reputation will keep other packs out, but Damien's pack is still a big threat by itself. Oh well, guess I can only wait and see what happens.

Kala smiled as she watched Salvia struggle, she wrestled around with Salvia for a bit more before finally tugging on her ear, then rolling off. All of the others had laid down, 5.. a small number. She knew Salvia would be disappointed play time was up, but everyone was sleeping and it was time they did as well. She laid down and waited until Salvia laid beside her before she closed her eyes. "Goodnight Salvia. I promise I'll play with you more tomorrow."

It took Damek about five minutes before he got up again, and started pacing around. As tired as he was, he couldn't shake some sort of restlessness out of him. The two females that had come were wrestling playfully somehow after the run, and another two males were around. That was really about it. One of the males was the black-colored servant of Damien. Damek didn't know why he had come, but wouldn't just assume it was to spy. Damek wouldn't just let it become a problem later, either.

So he walked up the seemingly sleeping wolf, taking care to stand a little back, and stood before him with what he hoped was an aura of confidence. He didn't feel too confident, however, as doubts were starting to form at the very back of his mind in that one area that he couldn't control. Damek looked the black wolf in the eye, even though he was almost an inch shorter if the black one was actually standing, and said calmly, "Why are you here, and what do you want?"

I was just starting to get to sleep when Damek approached me. If he was already going to have me do something for him I'd be really pissed off.

"Why are you here, and what do you want?" He asked me in a serious tone. Did he seriously just ask that question? WHat is it with you people now of days asking such stupid questions. I stood up. I detected a very slight hint of doubt in Damek but it quickly disappeared.

"Well thats an interesting question to ask me. The most likely resons you could get from that is 'same reason everyone else is here'. If I had another reason then I would tell you but I am not so that can either mean that I am here for the same reason you are or I am covering something up. Does that answer your question?"

The response surprised Damek, and while it wasn't exactly something he liked, he had to settle for it. Damek didn't want to start a confrontation, not after they had all just left. "Not in the way I would have liked." He walked back to his spot, and laid down, but kept his head up, looking at the horizon. He would have to keep an eye on the other as long as he refused to say why he had exactly come. He was sure that he wasn't lying about being the same as the rest, but why that was, was what Damek wanted to know. Everyone else had gone to sleep, so Damek tried to follow suit.

Damek went back to fall asleep. I didn't give him a straight forward response because I didn't trust him. Before I was going to tell him anything I wanted to see if he could be the leader he was supposed to be for the four of us. If he does well then I may answer him better. I laid my head on the ground and went back to sleep.

Kala woke suddenly. Another nightmare. She was used to this. It grew from her fear of becoming like Damien. She shook it off and looked around, everyone was still sleeping. She got up quietly and walked over to the stream, drinking a bit. She walked over to the edge of the clearing and entered the woods. Time to do a little scouting. She walked down a trail, trying not to get to far from their small pack. It was clear that deer populated this area. That was good, they wouldn't have to worry about starving anytime soon.
She walked further down the trail and stopped. Something wasn't right. She turned, she wasn't going to risk getting into trouble without her pack, it was best not to explore. But that didn't matter because she immediately felt cold metal under her paw and heard a loud snap. The metal jaw dung into her skin and her pained howl filled the area. She knew struggling was useless. All she could do was hope someone would hear her.

I was awoken by Kala getting up. She probably had a bad dream again. I watched her go off into the woods. I lay there waiting for her to get back. Usually when she goes off I pretend not to be disturbed but I can't fall back asleep until she gets back. I really don't know why. Shes always been there next to me and I could ever sleep if she wasn't. I waited there patietly for her to get back when suddenly I heard her howl in pain. I bolted up from where I liad and ran towards where the sound came from. I ran until I found her with this strange metal object clapped around her leg. I tried to bit it off but it was no good.

"Hang on.... um.... I'll..." I didn't know what to do. Kala was in pain and couldn't move. The others, they might be able to help. "I'll get the others! Don't go anywhere!" I told her. I ran back as fast as I could.

Damek had just managed to clear his mind of all his distracting doubts when he thought he heard a muffled howl. Being a new area, it could have been any number of things from a loner to another pack to him just imagining it. He didn't open his eyes. However, not a minute later, the heavy footfalls of someone came close and he looked to see Salvia standing in front of him, rapidly talking about Kala and some kind of trap she was caught in. Damek got up and went over the black wolf, nudging him awake. Damek had no idea what all would be required, so it was best to take everyone along. He told Salvia to lead the way, and followed her, waking the other male on the way.

We came to an area where the white wolf was caught in a trap. This metal human trap was clamped around her front left leg. I moved closer and looked it over. I had seen a trap like this before. It wasn't one of the more sophisticated ones, which was a good thing. I new a few ways to get them undone but I couldn't do it myself. I looked at everyone.

"I might know how to get her out, if no one else has any ideas but I first need to know if any of you have elemental powers, what they are." I looked at each waiting for a response

Suddenley, I woke up because the brown wolf was acting frantic. Damek motioned for me to come and woke the black wolf up. Something serious must be going on.

After following for a little while, we spotted the white wolf with...something on her leg. The black wolf inspected the thing more closely and then he said, "I might know how to get her out, if no one else has any ideas but I first need to know if any of you have elemental powers, what they are." I replied, "I can control air and fire, and I can heal small wounds."

Kala watched Salvia run off, half laughing to herself as Salvia said, "Don't go anywhere." But Kala would never tease Salvia, but she felt bad that the only reason Salvia had been allowed to stay in Damien's pack was because of her beauty. She continued to think about various things to forget the pain when she saw the black wolf come through the bushes. He asked what their powers were. She responded in pained breaths, "Water... and very little...air..." She winced a little and glanced at her leg, there was quite a bit of blood already staining her white fur. She quickly looked back up and focused on Salvia, sending her mind back into thought.

Damek immediately had alarm at the black wolf's question after merging from the brush to find Kala stuck in some human contraption. Damek's doubts were probably irrational, but the black wolf could just be asking for their powers to get some weaknesses found and exploited. Damek shook his mentally. It was just a question to determine the best way to get Kala out of the trap, and they needed to do it pretty fast, because she was losing a lot of blood. He was mildly surprised when Kala gave her powers. "I use water and air to form ice. Mostly of a defensive nature." He wondered if Kala was aiming for that too, and wondered what she meant by "very little" air.

The black wolf looked at me after everyone else told them what they could do. I was still looking at Kala. She was loosing blood from the wound. I hope she wouldn't bleed to death. THat would be an awful way to go. Plus she promised to play with me tomrrow. NOw with her leg like that she wouldn't be able to without getting hurt.

"Ummm... I can't do anything." Well I cold do something with light but I wasn't good at it, at all. I didn't even know how to 'activate it'.

"Fine then." The black wolf spoke. "Here is what we can do. There is a sprin on the trap that keeps the jaws clamped around her leg. THe one who can use fire needs to heat the spring to weaken it so we can bend the jaws back. Damek you should encase the white wolfs leg in water to keep her from getting burnt from the fire." The wolf said telling everyone his idea. I really wasn't sure if it would work or not but I prayed that it would.

Damek looked at the black wolf for a brief moment, before gathering his thoughts. He was a little tired, but it wouldn't take too much energy. He concentrated on finding that one feeling, deep within himself, that indicated the door to his powers. He had some practice with this, so found it moderately easily. It was slick, like a marble coated in spit, and directly acknowledging it degraded one's concentration. But if one knew what it was, like Damek did, then one directed all thought at once against it, causing this marble to crack open. Then it felt like a surge, such a rush, of energy. Damek felt the power coursing through him after breaking this "mental tap," but he didn't exactly enjoy it. Those who abused the ability, much like Damien did, were greedy and would do whatever they could to increase their power.

It was another part of the reason Damek had to leave. Damek knew his skill was growing, even if he didn't exercise it much, and started worrying about his own safety a little bit, showing some skills in the one thing had that could truly control the rest of the pack. Damek had to turn back to the present, as the use was temporary, and would get harder each time he tried from mental fatigue. He thought about the moisture in the air, the moisture in the earth, the moisture from all his fellows' breaths- just about anything that had water. He envisioned all the moisture, concentrated on Kala's legs. Within a second, one could see tiny droplets flowing towards Kala, hundreds, then thousands of them, which eventually turned into a little layer of water, which built up on her leg. This was actually pretty slow, Damek could have done it so fast that it wouldn't have been visible, but this would have tired him out.

He thought that he could maybe even slow the bleeding a little bit, so collected more water, this time draining a little bit from the plants around the group, and used it to put a bit of pressure around the traps' teeth. If the other male was going to burn the trap, the water might still heat up enough to turn into steam, so with the last fleeing ebbs of this one energy surge, he started to circulate the air around the water layer he formed, which would hopefully cool it, and keep it cool, enough so that it stayed. "I have done all that I can."
